This is an introduction to what I want to achieve throughout this year in my 3DANI Unit. I am interested in 3D generally though I want to push my skills in rigging and animation, due to having various other projects that involve animation I am mainly focusing on pushing my rigging and character creation skills. For this unit I intend to take a character concept through a character creation pipeline ranging from sculpt, re-topology, UV unwrap, rigging, hair groom and for the clothing I want to explore marvellous designer. All tailored towards a Maya Arnold pipeline.
For the concept of the character I am currently in the process of commissioning a character design based on some references I sent forward. I chose my commissionee both based on their artwork and the fact they are a first year student on the same course as myself making communication fairly easy and beneficial. I sent through a few sketches and some other inspirations of character shown below. Because of the late request for the character instead of trying to design a full character outright in a week the plan is to work on elements over the course of multiple weeks i.e. work out the character without clothes first then move on to clothing elements later, which works well for me as I’ll be creating the character in various stages.
